President Message
Hello everyone,
Well here we are again, staring Field Day right in the face. I have said about all I can, to try and convince everyone that it is worth the time and effort to be there. We would really like enough support to keep two radios running all the time the HF experience you can get is wonderful.
After Field Day is over we have a couple of events coming up that we really need support on. There is the UBIC parade, the Dinosaur Roundup parade and if we wanted to we could setup special events stations for both of these. Also there are a couple of county fairs that we could show off at
IF we had enough support from the clubs members to do it. Support is the thing that will hold this club together. I think it was Moose who asked a few weeks ago why we had so many licensed hams in this area and so few check ins on the net each week. I honestly wish I had an answer for him. I think one thing that would help would be for each one of us to make a point to invite someone to join us. We all know someone who used to check in but doesn't anymore ,why not take the time to give that person a call and ask them to come back, it might just work.
Well, enough of my rambling. Consider this my personal invitation to you to join us for Field Day and to check in on Monday night It makes us all better to use our radios once in a while.

Mays meeting was held at the Remember the Maine Park . There were 17 members and 11 guests present.
We had dinner then we elected a new secretary Kay Johnson KC7MGD and also a new newsletter editor Amanda Johnson KD7FLK.
We discussed door prizes at field day and we decided on giving away a 2M radio at Field Day this year. Everyone who has their dues paid by then will get a chance at it.
Karl Swain is no longer zacky quacky his new call sign is AC7EJ. Jon Bartlett formerly KB7LFE also changed his call sign to KD7JEZ. Our next club meeting will be held at the house of Von and Nancy Johnson in Roosevelt on June 17 2000.
If you have any information to add to the newsletter or any kind of story you would like to share with the rest of the club give it to me and I would be happy to put it in the newsletter. Send it to me at MeannaA@netscape.com. I would really appreciate anything you have to add.
Oh, yes and if you do not show up to field day expect a puppy on your porch pretty soon, unless you have a GOOD excuse! They will be ready by then.
Thanks Amanda
Who's-Who In Borderline HAMS!
Kay Johnson was married on August 19,1960 to Von A. Johnson. They were married until Von was killed in a truck accident in 1977.
She has two brothers and is the mother of five children, Von Johnson KA7ERC-Lisa Johnson KC7JZW- Mike Johnson KC7JZY-Debbie Gregory KC7MGB- and Christy Barker.
Kay is the grandmother of eleven and a half grandchildren, one of which has their Ham license, me, Amanda Johnson KD7FLK, and four newly acquired step grandchildren.
Kay loves to work in the yard and paint. . She loves to camp and fish and having her family around while she is camping or fishing is even better. She is a kind, loving person and will do anything to help others, especially if it is something she enjoys doing as well. We have learned this from what she has done for the club this last year and I know she will make a great secretary!
Kay will be asking everyone for help with this article and will be asking for stories about you and your families. So I decided since she did not get one to me this month I would do one about her So if your would cooperate we would very much appreciate it.
Amanda
